About You
Very enjoyable. Spent a lot of time with a number of very interesting people within the technology division of the bank. Senior members of the technology gave up their time to speak with us which I thought made the experience very valauable.
As mentioned previously, during the week we spent a lot of time with senior members of the business as well as recent grads. Additionally we were shown various parts of Barclays estates including their accelerator. Generally, it felt like the program had been very carefully designed to maximise our benefit and give us a very in depth insight into the firm.
Through networking sessions with grads, conversations with HR, and talks from senior members of staff, we were given a tremendous amount of useful advice regarding the application process in Barclays, the development program that exists in the grad scheme, as well as a general idea of how someone might progress through their career at Barclays.
Throughout the week we were given opportunities to reflect on our own strengths and weaknesses and were constantly reminded of the strengths that Barclays values. With this is mind, I have acknowledged where I generally need to improve and have determined how I will achieve this
The Company
The insight was very well structured. There was never any dead time or confusion. Every event ran on time and we were given adequate breaks.
The atmosphere was different to what I expected. It was more focused on information and education than on assessment.
At the start of the week we had a workshop on effective team working. Later we participated in sessions with senior management who explained what they were looking for in us as grads.
Through work shadowing and conversations with senior staff I was able to get a fairly complete idea of what exactly people are working on in the tech division of the bank.
Again, through work shadowing and from the talks we had with senior staff, we were exposed to how Barclays's highly advertised values are actually practiced throughout the firm.
Was given the opportunity to have very relevant insight into real world operations of Barclays tech division. This has influenced my career decision.
Everything Else
Plenty. As mentioned above.
Very relevant and valuable.
Yes through careers expo as well as conversations with staff.
Yes.
