The Role
PLEASE NOTE: This review was for a placement at General Motors prior to the amalgamation of Vauxhall and General Motors (The RateMyPlacement Team) Excellent Job, Learn a lot, gains lots of experience in a variety of fields, very high demanding workload
Felt like key member of team, became subject expert in two fields, so lots of responsibility, praise and criticism was given when due. I worked with a fun group of people, who were experts in HR.
Excellent support, mentoring scheme, good colleagues to guide every step of the way!
Extremely high workload and multi-tasking, kept busy through full working day, plus had to put in additional hours. But was in all spirit of the placement, so was good not bad. Hence good rating. Plus it was better too be busy than to be bored.
Undergraduate project (10 undergraduates) together we planned and executed a public open day (5000 attendees), monthly reports for Plant Director, planned and ran assessment centre's for undergraduate recruitment, including the leading of interviews. Had responsibility of my own job and if I wasn't there to do it, someone would need to be employed to do it. Real Job!!!
Organisation Highly increased as well as workload management, more drive to achieve higher marks, can apply self a lot more.
The Company
Great people to work with, open planned office environment. Fun stopped when neccessary and when workload was intense.
Good scheme gets you involved and on your feet from the word go, you run the show, which means you also need to be proactive with your placement side (mainly documentation).
Lots of training available, all microsoft packagaes, Target selection interview training, recruitment software, GM related training, plus an academy with wide selection of training available.

Hard to comment, no opportunities for me at the moment, but opportunities for future undergraduates.
The Culture
Over 80 undergraduates, enough said!
Cheap place to live and socialise apart from rent was a bit high, but not overly expensive.
Opportunities available, however better locations were outside the area, but accessible.
Work football was available, but not an offical "out of office" work activity, most activities were organised by yourself or other undergraduates, however there are plenty of undergraduates to have something always on. Few work outings throughout the year for meals.
