    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight day was thoroughly enjoyed by myself and everyone I've spoke to who attended. The day was incredible well organised however maintained a relaxed atmosphere throughout. The amount of opportunities to speak to current people on the graduate scheme made the day very useful.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Whilst it was incredibly easy to talk to current employees about the company and the industry, I feel the amount we were valued could have been significantly increased by a simple name sticker to put on our blazers. When working group of 10 strangers in was difficult to keep track of each person's name.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • 5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was incredibly relaxed. When the trading game was taking place, the atmosphere obviously became more competitive and focused however this added to the day and made the insight more like real world trading. However, during the breaks and lunch break, everybody was really pleasant to talk to and it was evident everyone was having a great day.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development, there company didn't invest much into us. However this was due to the nature of the task. At the beginning of the day we were told what our task was and then we were expected to get on with it, and short updates with how teams were progressing occurred throughout the day.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight helped me thoroughly understand the nature of the full time role. This was due to how relevant the trading exercise was in relation to the real full time role and how, like the real working environment, we were expected to work in teams with people who we'd never met before.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight helped me understand M&G's culture a lot more than other insights I have been on. I think this was partially due to the relaxed atmosphere throughout the day, and the opportunity to speak to current employees on the graduate scheme, which was arguably the most useful part of the day.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day was extremely valuable when respect to me deciding my future career path. The asset management career path has interested me for quite some time now and this insight day strengthened my interest to the point where I will probably be applying for a Summer Internship in the same area of work next summer.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I am not aware whether M&G reimburse expenses or not however there was no talk of it at the event.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to meet and network with employees throughout the day. The whole lunch break involved talking to individuals on the graduate scheme as well as people higher up the organisation, for example I was speaking to the head of marketing for 20 minutes. Furthermore, at the end of the day we had a Q&A session with current graduate scheme holders which was very useful.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I did find out about the activities employees can get involved in outside of work but only because I asked the graduates during lunch break. I feel others attending the insight day might have missed this opportunity to ask about this factor as they were too focused on work.
