The Role
I really enjoyed working at Intel, I think it is a really good company to work for. The environment is quite relaxed and everyone around you is so friendly and willing to help you on anything you need. I gained so many skills and so much knowledge whilst being at Intel that I can take with me in the future.
I felt really valued by my colleagues. They are all really good for making sure your work is appreciated however small or big. They recognise that you do well and help them out so that your manager is aware at how good you are performing.
I was always supported by my manager at Intel. I had weekly meetings with them to make sure I was ok and see what I had on for the week and whether I needed any help or had any issues. My manager was also around during the weeks if I had any other urgent or general queries before or after this meeting.
My month varied quite a lot, for a couple weeks a month I was really busy which was good as it kept you occupied. On other weeks of the month I had a lot less to do. However Intel is really good with this as they let you take on other projects in other teams or help out people in your team so you can always take on more if you don't have enough to do. I got involved in a lot of other work which gave me great exposure to other parts of accounting.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, they didn't make me feel like I was an intern at all as I was given very real processes. Everything I did, needed to be done so they weren't just made up processes for me. This was really good to know that your work matters as it feels like you're very trusted in the workplace and are needed.
I developed a lot of skills and knowledge whilst being at Intel. It will help me so much when I go back to University as I have built on what I learnt in my first two years of University by actually performing this in real life for Intel. I think this will help me dramatically as it is so different to just being given a scenario at university. I have also developed my excel skills and learnt so much which will not only help me for when I go back to University but for future jobs too.
The Company
I had a really great team at Intel who are social people and all get along really well. This makes such a difference as everyone speaks, has lunch together and we do things outside of work as well. We always made sure we did anything to keep everyone upbeat even during busy and stressful times.
It was really well organised. I had a mentor for when I started to speak to which helped for any silly questions you had. But the best thing about Intel is that you have a 5 week handover period with the old intern, so you will have them with you for the first 5 weeks of your placement to train you and help you with anything, I think this is a great scheme to have in place so you're not completely chucked in the deep end too scared to ask anyone any questions.
The company really invested in me. I had a lot of training throughout my placement year where I took on more complicated processes and harder tasks to test my skills and help me build my confidence on what I am capable of. Intel is all about developing their employees and helping them to get where they want to be which I really like.

Very appealing. I would definitely come back to work for Intel now I know how good the company is and just in general knowing it helps so much, rather than starting at a new strange place.
The Culture
The social side was great, the Interns had different committees and there were events always being arranged and you can partake as little or as much as you want. It is a really great way to make friends and have a break from the work life.
I would say it was about average. I mean it isn't as cheap as student towns but its reasonable. I go out all the time with my team and fellow interns and pay the rent just fine with having plenty left for treating myself.
The nightlife, its more pubs around this area rather than clubs. but there are still a couple of clubs which are really good. I mean I personally much prefer casual drinking, doing a pub crawl etc so it was perfect for me.
Plenty. So many things constantly organised by Intel that you can get involved in. Lets just say you'd never get bored and also a great way to make new friends.
