About You
Lots of opportunities to be involved in the daily business but also to meet very senior people and talk about subjects that matters for the company.
When compared to other firms, Citi definitively set the bar high. The employees are not just answering your questions but rather coming to you in a very affable manner.
My buddy was here to assist me throughout the week in terms of work to do, people to meet and things to know.
I've learned how valuable it is to hand a work meticulously done rather than quickly. To prove your co-workers that you are reliable is key to succeed.
The Company
Well balanced between the presentations, the work shadowing and the networking opportunities. I really had the feeling that the recruitement team wanted to give us the best snapchot of the company and help us throughout our journey.
The selection process has been carefully done. People were open-minded ,curious and above all eager to learn. Also, the teams were here to help us better understand Citi's company culture. I created strong links with many people - Citi or spring interns - and will definitively look after maintaining these relationships.
Senior people coming to talk about their personal development, major talks surrounding very diverse issues such as cultural integration, evening events... everything was done for us to leverage the opportunity we had.
When doing the work shadowing, I had the opportunity first to better understand the industry I would be working on and the required knowledge it implies, second to grasp the usual tasks I would fulfil as an analyst thanks to some interviews I had with team members and third how and when to interact with every member of the company.
Citi puts a great emphasis on the "human factor", meaning that employees and business relationships are the core business for the firm. I really understood the values Citi wants to share when partnering with clients: long-term relationships and mutual trust are the two key aspects of success.
Before to start the spring programme, I wasn't quite sure Corporate Banking would be the activity that suits me best. I was aware that in some banks Investment Banking tends to overstep it and therefore your action field is limited. But at Citi, everything is different and maintaining relationship is key. Therefore I am now more determined than ever to start in Corporate Banking.
Everything Else
Citi provided payment for the flights and the accommodation during the week.
Yes, practically everyday.
Sometimes very formal at the office, sometimes much more informal (in a bar for example). People change their behavior depending on the venue and the atmosphere, so it was great to have such different experiences.
Would it be the differents societies, human activities or sports, Citi is really eager to develop its employees' social activities.
Definitely, so far the best experience I had for an insight programme.
