About You
I thought the program has been very informative, giving a broad range of career options in investment banking, risk management and wealth management.
I wouldn't say feeling valued is a priority for an Insight, it is more of a valuable experience to be apart of the program.
There is lots of support readily available and a good aspect of the program is that you can identfy a specific area to work shadow to learn more about your chosen area.
As a Chemical a Engineering Student, the Insight program will not assist in my degree. The information received has been valuable to identify which areas of banking I will be pursuing in my future career.
The Company
A well planned week structure with a clear outline of the program schedule. Possibly too much focus on networking.
Very good atmosphere and fantastic facilities at 5 Broadgate.
The company invested time and resources in terms of bringing high profile employees to come on and talk to us about different areas of the business. There was little training involved in the program but for a Spring week this was not expected.
Work shadowing allowed us to identify and outline typical working days, working hours and responsibilities given by each position in various positions with the chosen category. For example, I chose Group Risk and work shadowed in both Compliance & Prinary risk roles which provided very helpful.
The company culture is instilled in all employees and was constantly referred to during the program. From this, the UBS ethics and integrity principles were made clear and how they implement these principles in day to day work.
The program gave me an insight into ruling out particular areas that I wouldn't like to work in and identify new areas I had previously not considered as potential options for the future.
Everything Else
My train far and hotel was payed for, alongside breakfast and lunch provided everyday.
Regular networking events were provided to get to know all the Insights, graduates and other staff. They were all very informative and very happy to answer questions.
Many opportunities for networking with graduates at breakfast and lunch events.
Work shadowing allowed us to talk to current graduates and their activities outside in work, whether it be volunteering, social events, networking and group sporting activities.
Yes, for people deciding on a career in banking or for people who want to get a real world understanding of a global bank, I think it would be very beneficial.
