About You
I thought the insight was good because whilst I was learning a lot I also found that they'd tried to combine this with interactive activities and the chance to network and socialise so that it was a friendly environment with lots to do; this was fun.
The fact that UBS were willing to provide accommodation and food and small group shadowing meant that they clearly valued us as they were trying to sell themselves as a company that look after their workforce. Not once did I feel like they saw it as doing us a favour, instead I felt like they welcomed us.
We had the chance to ask lots of questions and learn about lots of areas. We also were given workshops to improve our skills. These supported us not only in our roles at UBS but also for future.
I hadn't covered much about economics before this week but I found the whole week informative and I leant a lot about the banking and financial services industry as a whole which will help me in the future.
The Company
They had a clear timetable for us to follow and people to deliver lots of fast pace activities. The only thing was some sessions felt like a time filler, like a whole session on the building.
Everyone was really friendly and got along and I felt like I could ask any questions without being judged. It didn't feel like a competition like a lot of banking events do.
They held workshops on skill development and how to succeed at an assessment centre and the process of going through their application process; this developed our skills beyond the scope of their company.
For a lot of roles they went into lots of detail about what their role means but in the stream I applied for we didn't really get to see what it is like day to day
They really tried to sell their company culture. I would if I had a supportive and friendly environment like theirs though. I felt they really valued their employees
I felt I learnt a lot about banking but in the stream I chose it'd be nice to see more variety of positions.
Everything Else
They reimburse travel and they book and pay for accommodation for us.
Lots of networking happened over Burgers and a social on the first day.
We had one social on the Monday which was good but people were tired and went home early.
Yes, they can do volunteering and also get involved in hackathons and games nights.
Definitely. It was very good and I learnt a lot and enjoyed it.
