About You
The Insight Week was packed with presentations by professionals from across divisions and interactive workshops. There was not a boring moment.
The staff were really friendly and approachable, some talks were held by senior members of the company, making us feel valued.
All the staff were welcoming and took their time to answer our questions, the HR were really helpful throughout the insight.
The workshops developed our soft skills like presentation skills and provided us with some technical skills and knowledge about the investment banking industry. The information was not that useful in assisting my degree studies but is definitely helpful in future employment.
The Company
The insight was well structured, we had a suitable number of talks and workshops of suitable lengths of time. There were more talks on the first day, workshops on the second day and shadowing on the third and fourth day.
The interns come from diverse backgrounds and countries, everyone was friendly and I couldn't sense any competition between interns even though there is an assessment centre at the end of the insight.
We shadowed a worker from the division of our choice for the entire afternoon. Within those few hours of interaction, I was able to gain a better understanding of what it is like to undertake a full time role with UBS, the type of work they are involved in and more about the culture of the firm.
UBS emphasises a lot on the culture on the firm rather than just facts and figures.
Everything Else
I do not live in London and my university was outside of London, therefore my accommodation and travelling expenses were paid for.
There was job shadowing and a networking lunch with those on the graduate scheme.
I would definitely recommend this insight to those who do not have a good understanding about investment banking and would like to find out more about the culture at UBS. It was a great experience!
