About You
The insight has been great and very much fun. It has consisted of various events, presentations and work shops.
The company really shows that they value you and that they want you there. You do a numerical test during the week and everyone who is successful get to go to an assessment centre. This means that they valued all of us and wanted to have as many as possible to the summer internship. Because of this it was a very friendly environment and not very competitive. They also stressed many times that they wished to see us at UBS for summer internships as well as graduate scheme and that we had been chosen for a reason.
The guidance and support was good. If you had a question, they were happy to answer it. Moreover, the person who I work shadowed not only showed me her job but also four other people's jobs, which was not a requirement. The people are very nice and supportive.
The information I received has been great both in terms of future studies and careers.
The Company
It has been well structured, starting with information about the company, industry as well as the financial market. Following that, we got introductions to different divisions in the business area you have applied for. Additionally, we did some workshop for each divisions. Moreover, we got to network and work shadow employees, which was very good to find out more about the company.
The atmosphere has been very good. Everyone, both participants and employees, have been very friendly. The environment has not been very competitive, but rather collaborative. The people working at the firm are great people, who always are available for a chat.
The firm had various presentations in order to inform us about markets, firm, concepts, etc. Furthermore, they had skills sessions in order to prepare us for interviews as well as careers. They also had work shops for each division to demonstrate a bit better what the work was about.
Very well. The presentations, networking and work shadowing gave a great picture of what it would be like working for the firm.
It helped a lot. UBS has a couple of pillars and behaviours which describes their culture and you can see this in the people as well. The people in the office is very collaborative and friendly.
It's been great with all the information and networking. I definitely have a better picture of what I want to do in my future career now.
Everything Else
It was only during one week and we were not paid for it. However, we got breakfast and lunch everyday and people who were not living in London got accommodation provided.
Yes, there were both lunch networking, graduate panel, breakfast networking, and work shadowing. Conclusively, many opportunities for networking.
They were very relaxed and the people are very nice and approachable.
Yes, they have different "societies" as well as gym, etc. provided in the office.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend as I think it was a great introduction to the financial market and particularly investment banking.
