About You
The insight has been really enjoyable so far with a fantastic ratio of workshops, graduate panels and group projects.
The whole week I have felt really valued and it is clear that the UBS gruduate recruitment team have put a lot of time, thought and effort into the structure of the week.
The week was full of support with graduate recruitment staff present pretty much the whole time and thus there for any questions to be answered.
The information I have learnt so far in the week will be helpful in any financial modules I take in the rest of my degree in allowing me to see how the world of finance works from a different perspective. The information will certainly be more useful beyond my degree as somebody looking to work in the world of finance.
The Company
The insight was very well structured with a timetable handed out first thing Monday morning and kept to more or less to the correct minute every day.
The atsmophere throughout the week has been surprisingly pleasant with both staff and other students being very friendly, perhaps reflective of the culture at UBS.
UBS put a fair amount of personal training in the week, in that there were sessions about UBS, as well as the finance industry as a whole. For example on Monday morning there was Economics overview of the finance industry as a whole, presented to all the Spring Interns by Preston Keat.
The week allowed an insight into the company via the huge amount of human capital that UBS put into the week. This along with a day of shadowing in the position you applied for meant the insight was quite helpful in understanding what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm.
The insight really helped me to learn and understand the culture at UBS. The word "culture" is meaningless unless it is backed up with evidence which UBS did fantastically well.
The content of the day was helpful in me deciding my future career path, being able to network with so many people from different divisions. Although perhaps a few more sessions on divisions outside of your chosen area would have been helpful. I.e more sessions on CCS if you were in the CS part or vice versa.
Everything Else
I live in London so did not need to be reimbursed for any expenses.
There were lots of opportunities for networking throughout the week both at meal times and during sessions.
