The Role
Very well structured project, with real significane, to work on
They often asked me for my opinion.
In my case, i was distanced from my line manager which did restrict support being given on a one to one basis but they were on the phone whenever needed.
After the first few days of settling in, i always had something to do.
My report will be used to shape future strategy for the P+L i was working for, not manny interns can say they have had this level of responsibility.
I learnd alot about how to organise myself, manage different stakeholders and used a number of different office packages in detail.
The Company
Never felt scared to ask anyone for help.
The graduate team's events were extremely well organised and their communication with students was first class. However in my office i felt that alot of colleagues were largely unaware of the internship programme and it was up to me to explain it to them.
I was given the opportunity to attend national conferences and take part in learning visits to another area of the business. They also paid for my accomodation, travel and paid me a salary on top.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
The summer placement makes up a large proportion of the graduate intake for future years.
The Culture
I was based outside the Staines area where most interns were based so there was little socialising with them in all honesty. However, at events where all interns were present, there was good camaraderie between everyone.
Cost of living was very low as accomodation was paid for.
The city had plenty to do.
There were a number of out of work events i took part in within my office, however there were probably more opportunities given by graduate team through events and challenges (eg the charity challenge)
