The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, the work load was very varied, the people were great and the experience I have gained is invaluable.
I felt like a valued member of the team on each job that I worked on. I was treated the same as the other colleagues, despite the fact I was only an intern and did not know nearly as much.
I had a line manager who I could contact if I needed anything, and the managers on each job were very supportive in giving me work and helping build my knowledge of accounting.
On most days I was extremely busy and had lots to be getting on with, however there were some times when there was no work left for me to do.
I was given a lot of responsibility from day 1, which meant I was learning a lot right from the start!
The experience I have received has been invaluable. We had specific presentation skills training which was very useful for my degree, and I think what I learnt during my internship will be very useful if I carry on in an accounting career.
The Company
Every one in the office was very friendly and there were often cakes or biscuits to go around!
The internship was very well set up. I experienced a variety of different jobs and business areas, as well as travelling for Corporate Responsibility days and national training. Other than a couple of days where I had little work to do, and had to try to find work, the set up was fantastic.
I feel a lot was invested in to me during my time there. Training was put on specifically for all the interns nationally, giving us a chance to meet and network. We were also taken down to London for a Corporate Responsibility day. Special efforts were made so that we could meet with different members of staff and departments to further our understanding of GT and the service lines they offer.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a job on their graduate scheme!
The Culture
The interns in the office were allocated 'Buddies' and we had 2 buddy events during our 6 weeks there - Laser Quest and a meal out. There were also other social events, such as a national football tournament, nights out and days organised for the interns.
As a city with a massive student population, Leeds is a fairly cheap place to live and socialise.
Again, as the city has a huge student population the night life is very good.
As interns we were invited to all the social events the company offered, including going out for drinks and a national football tournament.
