About You
We were able to do a range of activities which made the learning engaging. The networking dinner particularly was a great experience.
The people who came to speak always emphasised how proud we should be for making it this far & how important this period of recruitment is for the company.
We received a fair amount of guidance but I figured that this was intentional and that we were supposed to make the most of what we had. This forced me out of my comfort zone
To a fairly large extent. My confidence in speaking to people really increased over the week due to the networking events. Aswell we learned a lot about working with other people in teams & the roles we play which is information I will definitely use at university.
The Company
Quite well structured. We knew what the plan for the day was in advance
The atmosphere amongst peers to begin with was relatively friendly but I think as the week went on things became much more competitive.
To a fair extent. We had a number of useful workshops to participate in which taught us valuable skills mostly about working in teams. But we also had activities which reflected the kind of work done in our areas of preference.
It helped to a fair extent mainly because we got to meet with people in those roles and ask them questions about what they did. Even though we did have the opportunity to shadow people it was hard to understand exactly what they did by spending an hour or two just watching but it did give an insight
Engaging with the people was the best way to gage this because you could infer what people were like that worked in certain areas. The employees were quite friendly & more laid back than I think most people would expect
To me there was value because I tried to infer if my personality matched the people I was meeting and engaging with. Asking questions about employees work balance life also served as an indicator for me.
Everything Else
I believe this was one area that BAML really did well with because they provided so many opportunities for us to network. I was able to meet people from a wide range of areas in the firm to give us insight into what they do
Really enjoyable and useful. They had people from a range of areas and also in a range of positions which stood out for me. The opportunity to network with very senior people is an experience I don't believe is provided everywhere
We were informed about a lot of the philanthropy that BAML are involved in. Employees get to vote on what charity BAML will support for that year I believe. Which is nice because the employees are involved
I would because it even presented a great opportunity to network with the other people on the insight week. People from other unis who often a time you see at these other banking events so it was good to make connections with them
