About You
Out of all my spring weeks, it was my favourite one. I got to learn so much not only about the division that I had selected but also other divisions. This gave a more holistic view on the bank and their culture. The employees were very friendly and very flexible. We has several tasks and challenges to do throughout the week.
It felt very personal. As my group was very small, the employees really got to know and we got to know them. Same applies with the 'buddies' that we were given. Although we were sometimes talking to seniors, we were very comfortable to speak our own mind. They made us feel at home.
Everyone was very helpful and we could ask questions to absolutely anyone and they would answer back sincerely and honestly. We were never left alone and never had nothing to do. Our assigned 'buddies' were more than happy to help us out in the tasks and challenges that we were set.
The Company
Every hour was planned. A week is not enough time to fit in everything but HR did an extremely great job of fitting in activities, work shadowing and also talks so that we got a variety of different aspects to learn about. They were also flexible when it came to our learning.
Everyone was happy and excited to be there. Everyone wanted to get involved and ask as many questions as possible. It had a very good balance of professional and relaxed. Every division had a different and I was given the opportunity to move around if i wanted to which was great.
We got to shadow a manager and a 'buddy' (a graduate). This showed us two different types of work that go on in the same division and showed us exactly what they do day to day. This was a very big factor when it came to making a decision for my future career path.
There were several talks on the different asset classes at Citi which really educated us on the financial side of the bank. This not only confirmed my interest in the financial industry but also taught me many new things that I didn't already know. I was able to use this information in my other spring week.
Everything Else
There were several networking events where we got to talk to not just the people we were shadowing but also more senior employees. This took place not only inside the bank but also a more relaxed and social environment such as dinner which was one of my highlights of the week.
There were several talks and Q&A held on the different activities that employees get involved in at the bank. They wanted to show us how the bank helps the community and what opportunities there are for different societies for the employees. They made a good job of showing us examples of current involvements.
I would 100% recommend this insight week to a friend. It had the perfect balance of a professional and relaxed atmosphere. The employees were very friendly and welcoming and answered any questions we had. They were flexible and let me experience a different division for a bit. It has really helped me confirm my career path for the future.
