About You
It was definitely a memorable and useful experience. Study curve was steep from day one. Enjoyed most components such as skill sessions, work shadowing, division-specific talks and the networking dinner. Liked the location (near St Paul's) a lot.
Everyone was so friendly and encouraging, from BAML employees, my peers to the catering staff. The Junior Talent Team (HRs) value our views on the ways to promote BAML amongst students.
Instructions were clear and comprehensive. Employees were very helpful and happy to answer my questions. Before the assessment centre day, a pre-reading was given to offer some background knowledge.
I definitely benefited a lot from the amount of networking I did with my peers and employees. I gained greater confidence in engaging in a conversation with strangers. I also had a chance to do a brief public speaking (as part of a team presentation) in front of over 100 people, which made me feel stronger.
The Company
Some sessions were too long especially when they were not very interesting e.g team challenge was to build a lego tower and the talk on some divisions (technology) . Overall the staff committed to stated timetable well.
It wasn't as dead serious and competitive as I expected. People got on well with each other.
They hired specialists to deliver skill sessions; Got many employees from each divisions to take time out to tell us about business itself, experience of working at BAML etc. HR also put a lot of effort in speaking about communication skills and personal branding.
There is still a lot of unknown aspects about the day-to-day jobs but I feel much more familiar and confident.
Talking to and listening from people made it obvious that BAML has a good culture, values teamwork and personal talent etc.
Very helpful, it re-affirms to me that investment bank is a good place to work at, with numerous opportunities to learn, grow and develop skills.
Everything Else
I didn't require an reimbursement,
Yes, a lot, everyday, all the time.
Very informative, casual (in a good way) and friendly.
Yes, volunteering, women's network, mentoring schemes and social events.
Yes, a valuable chance to shape perspectives and grow as a person.
