About You
I was a very enjoyable experience, I was never bored, all activities were fun and exciting. I learn a lot of new things about the construction industry. Inculding the different roles and how they work together. I also learnt of tips on how to apply for the summer and year placements.
very, every single person made a massive effort to make us feel welcome. It was especially good to get presentations from leaders within the company. Made you feel very valued and welcome. I would definity recommend.
We received a lot of guidance on how to apply for more roles, and what skills we should work on. This was made extra helpful as they gave us mock interviews and feedback as well as a CV workshop.
As it was more of an introduction, we didn't learn many skills except for how to act and work during a group assessment center. This was extremely helpful and would help us to apply for a full time role.
The Company
It was incredibly well organised! There was never a spare moment. It was a very busy and productive week. The timetable was well followed and well kept to. This ensured everyone had a good week.
It was an enjoyable and relaxed week. While it was still professional .It gave us an insight into the company atmosphere which was very friendly.
Didn't receive any training. However we were all given very valuable advice on how to apply and how the construction industry pick graduates, this was very useful We also learnt for what the company would look for.
We were given a few talks from graduates from all over the company who told us what we would be doing and how they found it. We also had the opportunity to shadow a graduate within a choose area, for me that was project management.
We were told a lot about the company values and activities put on for workers. These activities included charity work, parties and socials. We were shown how the had a professional yet relaxed working environment in which workers were treated very well.
It has made a very big impact. i would recommend it for any one hoping to work in construction or even studying a construction related degree! It made a massive difference and helped you to pick a certain career path with more clarity.
Everything Else
Perhaps students from further afield could have had some expenses payed to take the financial constraint of the student.
There was plenty of opportunity to made connections, with the students and graduates all of which could become very valuable contacts once they break into the industry.
There were non. Only an opportunity to made connections, with the students on the same week. However this would still prove to be useful.
We were told all about the charity MACE do, and that MACE offer a payed day off to do a charity event, this showed us MACE care about the community and the workers.
i would 100% recommend this. This was a very vulnerable experience that will shape the career path that i choose. It allowed student a key insight into the company and to a lesser extent the industry. On a side note it gave a good idea of what working in London would be.
