About You
I really enjoyed attending the First Step Scheme at CMS. It was a great opportunity to gain an insider’s view into what a career in law requires and it really helped me develop my legal knowledge and commercial awareness in positive and friendly environment. I would definitely recommend it to future students.
Attending the First Step Scheme gave me the opportunity to meet exceptional people ad experience a great team-work. My tutors as well as the team helped develop new skills and apply new knowledges, always encouraging and supporting my work.
During the First Step Scheme I received guidance and support from my tutors and the team as well, which helped me develop my potential into the office. The environment in the office is very positive and friendly and all the team is always there to support you during your daily activities.
Attending the First Step Scheme helped strengthen previous skills and develop new ones in a friendly and positive environment. It helped gain communication skills, negotiation and collaboration skills. It also increased my commercial awareness and it gave me the chance to practice my problem-solving skills whilst working and applying legal knowledges. Therefore, this experience will definitely help in my future studies and my future career.
The Company
The Program was very well structured and organised in all the activities. Every day I had the chance to work in the department and engage in different and challenging activities, always under the guidance and support of the team.
The atmosphere in the office is very friendly and positive. During the Program I had the chance to meet extraordinary people that helped develop my abilities and supported me during the week.
The firm invested many resources in my training and in my development. The training sessions and the different activities in the department were very well organised and aimed to encouraged the development of skills and knowledges. The firm invested time, money and human resources in my training and development.
The First Step Scheme really helped me gain an insider’s view into what a career in law looks like and it increased my legal and commercial awareness. This experience gave me the practical tools for understanding a legal career and what working in a legal office looks like. It helped me achieve a practical knowledge of the law and its application.
The First Step Scheme really helped me understand the firm’s culture and what working for CMS means. It is a very positive and friendly environment where diversity, curiosity and hard work are strongly supported. The culture of the firm encourages a diverse environment where bright and inquisitive individuals work together in the achievement of a purpose.
This experienced helped me understand what a legal career is what requires always in a stimulating and friendly environment. This experience gave the practical experience and knowledge necessary to achieve a better understanding of a legal career.
Everything Else
The Firm reimbursed all the expenses and paid for my work during the week. The firm reimbursed all the travelling expenses, paid for my accomodation in Glasgow and for all the food during the trainig session.
During the week I had the chance to interact with different people part of the team and gain a better understanding of their work and experience. During the activities I was always supported by the team and this gave me the opportunity to ask questions and actively interact with the team
The networking and social events were friendly and positive. The atmosphere was very calm and relaxed which helped overcoming the initial difficulties and engage into a better work experience.
There are many activities that employees can get involved in outside of work, such sportive and recreative activities. In fact, the CMS offices have their own football teams and train every week, moreover, every year they participate to a football tournament which is held in a different country every year. Also they engage in recreative activities such as Pub Quiz or different celebrations.
I would definitely recommend this experience to future students owing to the fact that it gives a chance to get involved in real life matters and practice in the legal field. It gives you a better understanding of CMS and their culture and policies. It also supports your personal development and the achievement of new skills and opportunities.
