About You
I really enjoyed the insight, even more then I thought I would. It was incredibly well organised and very interesting. I learnt a lot about both the bank and the industry despite not knowing much before I arrived. Also met lots of new people, many inside the bank and also the other insight students.
As insight students we were very well looked after and a lot of time made for us. We met a range of positions from recent graduates to associates to vice presidents to region heads. The time and money spent allowing those outside London, even outside Britain to attend was really very impressive.
There was no shortage of workers to ask questions to about the business and during tasks relevant employees would assist. Not a great deal of guidance needed to decide much but anytime you wanted an extra meeting with another department HR would usually help to set something up and were always around to answer questions.
Gained a great deal of interesting knowledge during the insight. Sadly not really relevant for my degree which is not in finance. May be helpful in my future career, particularly if I go into finance and will be very helpful to make decisions on what kind of industry I want to pursue – increased knowledge of banking has made it a much more likely future job.
The Company
Very very well structured. The week was meticulously planned with activities from 8:30 to at least 5:30 if not later. There were scheduled breaks (networking opportunities) and a mix of various activities from talks, to skills sessions, to shadowing, to networking events, to group tasks. Even when we split into divisions for the last day that too was very organised.
Very energetic. Constantly meeting new people in the bank, asking questions and learning before moving on to the next activity, all very planned. Very friendly as well. I had worried it would be quite stressful and competitive but everyone was really friendly and looking to enjoy themselves, not just get ahead.
Organising the week, providing food, offering accommodation – a lot investmented considering we were only there for a week and not doing any work. Most impressive part was the amount of time the employees gave up in order to meet the insight students and talk about their work, answer questions or help complete tasks.
Having been at the week my view on the banking industry has changed a lot. It seems a much more pleasant environment than reputed and rather than just looking out of curiosity I am now seriously considering a future in the industry. Bank of America as well showed themselves to be a very inviting, friendly and understanding bank.
There was a lot of talk about the company culture, almost every speaker mentioned it. The emphasis on trusting the team, working with the client, managing risk effectively (everyone, not just the risk department), allowing flexibility and movement, the expansion of technology, social responsibility and helping the community was an integral part of the experience
Very valuable in that it has opened a new pathway for me to consider. I probably would not have seriously considered it had I not attended the insight week.

Many many networking opportunities across all divisions. There were at three general networking events – the first evening, a careers fair and the networking dinner which members of all divisions attended and were free to talk. There were further opportunities during division days with specific members of each division who met and talked with us
Well organised and interesting. The general ones had employees that were recent graduates and employees who were vice presidents of their division and lots of diverse backgrounds and jobs. The most fun was the networking meal with each table having about 3 employees to talk to who swapped every course. Allowed a very casual and relaxed atmosphere
Many employees talked about the sports clubs like football, netball and a running challenge. There are also lots of groups for women, LGBTQ, different religions and ethnicities for support and committees for, say, analysts, to organise activities. Alongside that there was a real emphasis on charity work with days scheduled to help local communities
Very much it was a fascinating week and I learnt a great deal. Definitely worth it
