The Role
The internship taught me invaluable interpersonal skills and developed my ability to work independently and as part of a team. Although the area of work was not what I now plan to pursue I was given lots of work and support to get the most from my role.
My colleagues were superb. Not once did I feel like an "intern" as my co-workers entrusted me with work and provided much support and encouragement.

Depending on the project, this varied. Generally the balance was very good, and I never felt as though I had been given an impossible quantity of work to complete in a short period.
I was entrusted with certain sections and as the weeks went on I gained more confidence and therefore took the initiative to instigate more work for myself. This was encouraged and suported by my team.
My interpersonal skills have developed hugely as well as skills taught about giving presentations - these will help me at university and beyond
The Company
The Cardiff office is generally a very young team. This meant that it was a very lively, relaxed atmosphere though more serious when work need to be completed!
The only downfall was the interview process at the end of the placement. Given the fact that interns were asked to decide their preferred office and area of work in the second week, some interns are still waiting for their final interview despite finishing weeks ago. I believe this should be addressed and amended for future years.
My colleagues were always open to questions and always eager and prepared to give guidance and support throughout the process - they certainly made the internship the success that it was.

KPMG is a fantastic company that truly puts its employees first, though having completed the internship, I am not fully certain if this area of work is best suited to my skill set.
The Culture
There was a very strong relationship between all interns at Cardiff and Bristol office and we met up and went out twice during the placement as well as meeting up for the CSR day.
I was fortunate to live with my parents during the placement therefore I saved a lot of money!
Cardiff is a great city with a great variety of bars and clubs - the Bay (where the office is based) is especially good, attracting lots of young professionals from the surrounding offices.
Nights out were arranged as well as 5 a side football matches
