The Role
Great company and people, just not a lot going on outside of the work place which devalued the overall placement slightly.
My colleagues were extremely friendly and definitely made me feel part of the team
Not the managers in particular, but the whole team were extremely supportive.
Workload was pretty consistent with a great range of assignments.
A lot of interaction with clients and senior members of KPMG, surprising for an intern.
The internship was invaluable for me in terms of confirming that this is the career path I want to follow, but also, that KPMG is the firm for me.
The Company
It depended on who was in the office! With Audit, there is a lot of movement, and so generally the office is rather quiet as the major of the team are out at client sites.
Pretty well organised. We had a lot of discretion as to what areas of the department we would like to focus on and were also given opportunities to try other departments with in the firm
The fact that the internship was paid meant KPMG invested a lot financially. They also provided us with brand new laptops which was great. With regards to personal development, the team definitely helped us to broaden our skill base and encouraged us to interact with clients to build our confidence.
Subsidised Canteen
I am currently waiting for an interview with a partner at another office.
The Culture
Not a lot going on in the evenings which I felt let the placement down as I was in a new city and would have benefited greatly from more outside work activities!
Not tooo expensive but also by no means cheap!
I went to a few bars, but that was it! I think there is quite a good nightlife, I just didn't see any of it!
There were a few nights out which I attended, but not a lot compared to other placements I have done.
