The Role
I have really enjoyed my work placement as I have been given a really good level of responsibility. I have been able to work with my own customers and deal with issues that have arisen. I also really enjoyed being part of a big group of interns.
I felt very valued by my colleagues as I was doing the same role as full time members of staff. There was minimal difference between interns and full timers and this makes you feel a lot more valued.
Support has been great both from managers and on the job coaches. On the job coaches are assigned to you, usually another member of your team to discuss what you are currently doing and how to get the most out of your year.
I have been a good level of busy this year. There is always more work to take on and support around you if your workload got to much. You felt busier than what you would imagine an intern would.
My responsibility was very high at times being responsible for my own accounts. I felt very trusted making large decisions at times. I was also given the trust to travel to places such as London and Munich to meet customers and other internal Intel workers,
I feel the main benefit will be understanding what kind of graduate roles to apply for, I have tried to get involved this year in a range of business areas to work out what I enjoy. I think the experience of operating in business will give me great real life examples for my uni work next year as well.
The Company
Office atmosphere was really fun and inclusive. It is a complete open door policy so I have been able to set up meetings with a range of managers. The office is always a very fun place with things like the games room for lunchtimes.
The work is very organised with most interns taking over from a previous intern. The role is important as without it being done a full timer would need to do so.
We have to complete regular training online and we also have the option to attend more varied training courses. I was lucky enough to go to a sales training course which is different from where I work in operations. It really helped me think about pursuing a career in sales.

future employement prospects are good at Intel with a high % of people in my team being hired back. It is a good opportunity to get a job you have tried for a year and will then know if it is something you will enjoy
The Culture
The social scene is very good as a whole with a regular occurance of company party's and events. Swindon can be very limited at times for social events.
The cost of living is very cheap in Swindon, ideal for a student. The rent is very low for most properties. Socialising/alcohol can still be expensive in town.
A mixed nightlife that is not very big. There has been a new club open up this year for people of my age on a Saturday night. There are also a few nice bars including the Royal Oak for a drink.
Lots of sporting opportunities through work. I have been able to play cricket and football, I am also representing Intel at the Corp games this summer for football.
