The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the placement. Given lots of responsibility and plenty of guidance.
Completely, I never felt like a student. Always treated as equal to others.
I as given fantastic support, however I was also given enough responsibility. Didn't feel as though I was being 'led' through it the whole time.
Usually, very busy, however it was very rare I would have to stay in the office past working hours.
Lots of responsibility, slightly scary at times! But also plenty of support so it wasn't too intimidating.
I believe this will make the final year of my degree next year much more enjoyable and also understandable. It will be good to be able to link theory to practice. I feel much more confident about going into a full time position after uni now too.
The Company
There was a great balance at Intel between being a workplace, but having fun and enjoying your job is valued greatly. You are trusted to take breaks when you need them, and it works well because everyone's happy!
The internship at Intel was organised to an extent, but it was also left to you to make what you wanted of it. I got involved with other departments to gain more experience.
As mentioned, I had the opportunity to get involved in the areas that interested me. We could also partake in training to help improve presentation and management skills.

Unfortunately, Intel only hire back into operations. I took my placement in marketing, therefore it does not appeal to me. However, I would advise anyone interested in this area to look into a career at Intel.
The Culture
As there was around 60 interns, the social scene was good, however compared to a 'city' there's not much going on in Swindon.
The cost of living in Swindon is relatively low (compared to Surrey where I go to uni).
Swindon nightlife improved through the year as a new club opened. However, compared to uni it's not great. It was fun because there's so many of us.
Lots of opportunities, there's lots of sports/social clubs, pub quizes etc to get involved with after work. The interns always organise events aswell.
