About You
It was a great experience, even if it was very short they managed to give us a good introduction to the IB division and to Global Markets.
I felt we were taken great care of. The organising team made sure we had all the opportunities we needed to ask questions and develop our understanding of the bank.
Great guidance. All my questions were thoroughly answered.
The information we received was a great way to realise what the culture at RBC is like. Moreover, speaking to graduates helped me answer my questions or my confusions about my future career path.
The Company
Great structure and well organised schedule. Everything on time, I would have loved a week-long insight this well organised.
We were only 20 students, so I felt comfortable in a very short period of time. People were all talented and from different backgrounds, I felt we had a lot to talk about.
It was only one day of spring insight, so I cannot say they invested a lot in us. Other insights offer shadowing programmes that are a lot more insightful and eye-opening. However, I really felt that the organising team paid a lot of attention to our needs and questions throughout the day, so they did invest in us time and energy. Moreover, we had the chance to talk with a lot of senior people, whose time is obviously extremely precious.
Not very much, since we didn't get to do shadowing.
Speaking with seniors and graduates and having all our questions answered in an honest manner helped us understand the culture in a way. The networking session with the graduates was an opportunity for me to ask more questions about their careers, so I really got to understand what RBC supports and what it doesn't.
The introduction to different divisions and roles in the bank helped me understand what would suit me the most. The trading floor tour helped me feel the buzz there and made me understand the difference between the dynamic environment you can find in trading and sales and the different one you can find in IB.
Everything Else
They provided us with lunch and everything we needed throughout the day. Moreover, whoever had expenses to cover, they made sure they reimbursed them.
Yes, we had a networking event at the end of the day with graduates from different roles. This gave me a fresh perspective on the divisions and things you can do at the bank. Moreover, I got to tell them my weaknesses and strengths and I now try to keep in touch, the graduates are very open to questions and I'll make sure I get back to them when I need support and advice.
I answered this in the question above.
No.
Definitely! If you want to find out about IB and Global Markets and particularly about RBC Capital Markets, you should definitely go for this insight and make an idea of how it is like to work in this bank. Moreover, if you're amongst the lucky ones, you'll also get fast tracked to the summer internship interviews in the autumn!
