About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the first step programme, it was both fun and insightful. Including a range of activities with different objectives.
When at Nomura everybody seemed happy to speak to me and answer any questions I had in depth. Especially Lani who encouraged anyone to get in contact with her if they had any questions.
Throughout the day we were all provided with helpful information regarding various subject matters to help us on the day as well as in the future. Such as the talk and information provided about creating a competitive CV.
The information provided on the day provided me with motivation to stay driven throughout my acidemic career, but how to also choose the correct job and how to go about applying in a competitive and professional manner.
The Company
The entire day was planned extremely well, I was given a timetable of the entire day, which included contrasting activities filling the entire day with small breaks throughout to keep us focused.
Everyone was extremely positive and approchable throughout the day creating a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere.
They provided us with helped information throughout the day both broad and specific. Which meant it applied to everyone; but if we wanted to know more we were always given the opportunity to ask questions.
The day provided a honest and undergo insite into what it was like to work at Nomura. We were able to speak to many employees without different sectors of the company. Both the panel of four employees and the speed networking were particular intersting and helpful.
Combining the various employees we were able to talk to and the overview of Nomura at the start of the day enabled me to understand that Nomura is full of culture; and has a very flat management structure making it easier for new employees to contribute as much as possible to the company as well as get a huge amount of exposure.
The information provided was very valuable as I was able to speak to various employees with different roles with img the company, what their day entails and how they got to the position they were in regarding their academic studies.
Everything Else
The day did not require me to be reimbursed as I live extremely close to London.
There were multiple opportunities throughout the entire day to speak to employees; this meant we were able to network and ask them a large number of questions.
These were consistent throughout the entire day.
We found out about various activities and events normura offer to their employees. Such as the Thursday drinks on the terrace and the two paid days a year where they are able to all work together to do some volunteer work.
I would definitely recommend this insight day to a friend especially if they were interested in finance and investment banking.
