About You
I had a great time during the insight, it really provided me with the information I was looking for. I was able to get answers to many questions I ask myself on behalf of banking, and I think it will help me get a better idea of where I would like to start my career.
I did not feel particularly "valued" (not sure what is meant by that). I felt that it was great to work in groups, and keepind the same group/seats during the whole week because it really provided everyone with a solid base to get to know people.
We received proper guidance and support thanks to the training we had with Fitch Learning and with Deborah. The networking sessions and presentations of the divisions were also very helpful. I would have appreciated maybe more time with bankers planned in the schedule. I was able to meet with some people on one-to-one and that was very useful.
All the trainings we received were very useful. Not all the information was necessarily primary information, but I know that I will keep some tips that I learned during the week in the back of my head for a really long time!
The Company
It was perfectly structured, HR said at thebeginning of the week that we had "every half hour planned for us for the next week" and that was exactly true! It was structured efficiently as to always bring us a step further.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere during the insight, I felt that our class was very dynamic and everybody pushed each other upwards in a very productive and positive way.
We had great trainers that gave us valuable tips. The sessions were extremely relevant. Each time we had some training, we were able to see how it could directly affect our way of behaving for it to be more efficient in terms of communication.
The presentations were very useful, but having chats in small groups would have been more beneficial (but again, this is a very personal opinion). For example, we could have done something where bankers rotated at each table for 20 minutes each, and that would have enabled us to ask questions in small groups (6-7 people), and we would have had more questions come up, and more personal answers. In my opnion, this would have really been beneficial for many different reasons that were touched upon in the above questions.
Seeing how people interact with each other, and how much people were willing to have discussions helped us see more clearly into the firm's culture. Again more chats in small groups would have brought this insight to an even deeper level.
The presentations were very useful, the networking sessions could have been held longer to enable us to have more developped discussions.
Everything Else
Accomodation, food, and transportation were all paid, there's really nothing to say: I did not have to spend one pound for JP Morgan-related work.
Yes there were opportunities for networking, but I felt like they could have been longer or more frequent. It was hard finding a time to meet people outside of these networking sessions, which is not necessarly bad, but it's good to know. Having more bankers at the networking sessions might also have been beneficial so that you had the chance to talk to different profiles in the time allocated to networking.
The networking events could have been a bit better / longer / more people. The social events were perfect, we all had a good time, and it was really a good opportunity to meet the rest of the interns and get more acquainted with each other.
We did not talk about it during the week. I only found out about it while surfing on the firm's website, but I don't think it's a problem. It's important, but it's not essential for us to help us see if we want to work in banking, at JP Morgan, or in division A or B. I believe that this can be information we can research and discuss at a more advanced stage of recruitement processes.
100%: it is really helpful on a personal, networking, academical, professional level. You get to see the firm from the inside, to meet people from the firm that plahy many different roles, you get a much better sense of each role's tasks, and how everybody works together. You are exposed to the culture of the firm, and you are able to meet many different people that have all kinds of different backgrounds and that all have very interesting and diverse things to say. I felt that you really understood what kind of people you would be working with by coming into JP Morgan.
