About You
I really enjoyed visiting the sites and talking to people in the company, it was fun but also informative. There could've been a few more interactive activities during the talks but apart from that it was very enjoyable.
It did feel like we were visitors and somewhat looking from the outside in at first, so it didn't really feel like family. However during the days they were very welcoming and kind and so there was a bond between the students and those in charge. We felt valued because people from higher up in the business came to speak to us which made us feel like we mattered.
They gave us a lot of support regarding ways to apply and how we could work with them in the future. It would've been nice to have the external shadowing days slightly more organised (e,g: directions, the actual employees meeting up with the students etc.)
We developed a lot of skills for example interview skills and CV writing, which was very useful and will help us throughout our studies and later on.
The Company
Very structured, we had a brief every morning about what we were doing and the times.
Quite professional, but still quite relaxed after settling in.
They help with with the process of working with the company later on with the graduate scheme, which gave us a push forward for applying later on to work with the company.
We had lots of talks from people who work in the company, and showed us their day to day schedule.
I understood a lot about how they work and what they do, but I didn't really learn how they work.
They showed us different routes i could go with my degree, which was quite helpful in deciding my career path.
Everything Else
They paid us back for the travel to the sites.
We met a lot of the employees through the shadowing and the talks,
We didn't have any networking events
Yes, such as once a year, having a day dedicated to volunteering or raising money.
