    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There was a lot to learn, which is good but difficult to give an overall picture. Half of the interns were placed in a conference room with screens for the whole summer since there was no enough desks for them.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Depending on the team you were on experiences varied. In my case there was no interest on juniors. E.g. Nobody from our team showed up on our final presentations. Though I do believe others teams were highly inclusive and helpful with their interns.

    1/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Again, difficult to give an overall picture. I did not feel I was given any guidance at all when completing tasks nor was there any interest in describing the background of the projects we were working on.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Extremely busy. It must be noted there were no rotations so you were working for one analyst the whole summer.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A good amount

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely helped. You cant go wrong with IBD as a summer internship after all.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Not what I expected. A lot of smart people to learn from, though atmosphere was mostly just dull.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Half of the interns were placed on a conference room for the whole summer since there were not enough desks for them. Our summer intern drinks were cancelled too last minute. As teams we did not do much outside work, which did not allow people to get to know each other.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was training at the start of the week. Though it was difficult to keep up since half of the laptops broke down and for 3 days most interns had no means to follow the training.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Unfortunately not, there were many dinners out and about though!

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Good.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • We were based in the city which did not have much going on after a certain time.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not much time.

    3/5
