About You
I really enjoyed the 2017 RBS Female Insight Week in Edinburgh and in London. This programme is a true way to discover Private Banking and to meet talented people. No only did it offer the opportunity to discover the culture of RBS and Coutts but also to learn the different business areas.
I felt extremely valued during my week at RBS and Coutts on account on diverse reasons. First, we were a small number securing a place for the Insight Week and people valued our efforts to access it. Then, bankers and wealth managers were very opened and took a lot of time to explain their job and to answer to all of my questions. Work-shadowing was unique and intense – I loved it. Last but not least, I felt valued as a woman wanting to succeed the banking industry.
We all received a lot of support throughout the week. Evert Spring intern had a buddy to accompany us during the week but also an amazing HR team extremely organised and making every step of the day very smooth. In addition, people we were work shadowing took care of us and guided us whenever we needed.
There is no denying that the work shadows, meetings, “lunch and learn” and others activities we did during the week developed further my communication, adaptation and teamwork skills. In particular, I would like to insist on the assessments. As a French, the group discussion, the interview and case study will definitely help me in the future.
The Company
Again, the HR team was amazing and arranged perfectly our week. The insight was very intense but I learnt so much in such a short time. From the first day in Edinburgh to the rest of the week in London, every day was very well structured and enabled us to answer all the questions we had and to discover deeply the Private Banking world.
The atmosphere at the bank had surprised me a lot as it was pro-active, open-minded and calm. Not only did we get on well with the others interns and do the assessments gently but also the bankers and wealth managers were extremely welcoming with us. It was sharing experience and knowledge in a very pleasant way.
Firstly, they helped me a lot in terms of accommodation as I came from abroad to England. Secondly, they have been very interested in my personality and my particular background - with RBS you can be sure you will have a unique follow-up. We were free to meet the bankers in the business areas that attracted us most, therefore allowing us to develop personally.
If I am sure about one thing, it is that this RBS Insight Week is a unique opportunity to really discover a day of a full time job as a Private Banker or Wealth Manager. This week significantly allowed me to see the various steps to complete in a day/week to meet the clients’ need, even if not a single day is the same as they organise their day depending on the clients.
As we were immersed into the bank for several days and that we were following the work of the bankers, it is undeniable that we discovered the incredible culture of RBS. If you want to grow as a professional and a person – and above all if you are an ambitious woman – I personally think that RBS and Coutts are the best place to work.
Everything Else
In less than a week I had the opportunity for networking and above all meeting a large range of employees in very diverse business areas. The “Lunch and Learn” organised every day on different topics such as Career Journeys were genuinely interesting and a true source of inspiration for my future career path.
