About You
Was a very interesting and informative spring week at JP Morgan. Quite intense for just a week but made me realise that I want to go into markets trading. So extremely useful as a week here can make you realise if this is something you really want to go into.
It was just an insight week so we didn't do any work for JP Morgan. Having said that, I definitely felt valued as lots of effort had gone into the organisation of the week and everyone I spoke to was genuinely interested in talking to me. Especially, the desk rotations were 4 hours long each so you had a long time to really have a detailed conversation with 2/3 people based on a desk.
Lots of guidance was given during the week. For example, we had presentations on how to make the most out of the spring week, a panel of successful spring week candidates, how to read the FT, how to effectively give a presentation, feedback on exercises. And the organisers would give advice on how to behave when meeting senior people.
I learnt a lot about basic economics and world economics. The how to read the Financial Times session showed us what kind of stuff we should know as an employee of JP Morgan. Therefore, other than this spring week being an important point of reference in my CV, it also piqued my interest in current affairs.
The Company
Extremely well structured. We got given a timetable at the beginning of the week which had every hour planned so we knew exactly when and where we had to be. Even the social events was perfectly planned. Very impressed with the organisation. The first few days was quite informative allowing us to have some insight before the desk rotation on Wednesday and Thursday which was useful.
Everyone was extremely friendly, willing to talk and offer their own perspectives. They understood that we were all undergraduates in our first/second year but treated as professionally and with a genuine interest to offer an insight. Everyone answered my questions in detail and gave realistic answers without trying to sell the bank to me.
