Technical Marketing Engineer Review

I loved every minute, best placement experience overall. Working in a big corporation has only been beneficial as everyone is so helpful, you can never get lost. Being part of the company and making difference was the biggest thing, for most of my placement year I did not feel like an intern. The responsibilities and work load given by the managers was really helpful as it has helped gain and improve skills.

Being given massive responsibilities and their appreciation was one of the biggest achievement. Intel is amazing at recognizing everyone's hard work, as well as providing with challenging work to carry out. All the colleagues are so helpful and understanding with the work I carried out and encouraged it to do it my way.

Support and guidance provided by the management is truly amazing, every week your supervisor will want to have a face to face meeting to understand what you are doing with the time and how they can help. They keep track of your progress and if you require more guidance or help with tasks being given to; such as customer related or with organizing an event.

The first month was not busy as it was a handover period and I was still learning the basics, however once I completed all the online training and other small tasks I was given many different responsibilities and always had something to do. Every day was different, learning new things, attending events, organizing events and always had a projects that I was working on.

Responsibilities given to me were all acceptable and most of them were out of my comfort zone, however I carried them all out without questioning. I have gained so much knowledge in this past year, that I am so comfortable and ready for the real world. I have managed several events and customer meetings, carried out tasks without supervision successfully.

I developed tons of skills that I believe will help me successfully complete my final year at university. All the training and skills will be assisting me in my final year project at university, I have great ideas for the future. Overall working for Intel Corporation was a great experience and it has definitely extended my knowledge and prepared me for the real world.

The atmosphere is always great in the office, so much going on and people are always happy. I spent my year travelling from one office to another so it was great having two different spaces to work in and working with new people. Working in the lab as a team is really fun as we also learn a lot.

The organization was good, however I believe there is always room for improvement. There was a big change going on with the company while I was on my placement so there were few times where I felt that it could have been carried out differently. Some of the changes did affect me however it was for the better as I carried out work that I had never imagined and learned more than expected.

The company did everything to make sure I got all the training and made sure I take something out of this placement. It was overall the best job role anyone could do, carried out many different training online and by attending training days. I feel that all the training received from this placement will have a huge impact on the work I carry out in the future.

Future employment prospects are amazing and there is so many opportunities as the organization hires graduates. The company has many appealing opportunities, so there is always a possibility to come back and work for the organization. I have kept my options open for now as there might be different and better opportunities in the near future, and I will start concentrating on that once I have completed my education.

Social scenes among other interns and colleagues was really good, the interns tend to go out on Thursday evenings in Swindon, however I wasn't able to go to many events organized by fellow interns are I worked in two different Intel offices so most of the time I was travelling back and forth.

Intel office in Swindon is where I was based, the living cost was decent, I rented a house with two other interns close to the office. The area is cheap compared to where I am from (London), however the socializing isn't the most amazing. Restaurants, supermarkets, pubs, shopping is mostly in a walking distance in the old town, you may need to catch a bus or taxi for the Designer Outlet, which is not too far and the public transport is good. The train station is only 15 mins in a bus from old town.

  There are many pubs and restaurants in old town and I think there is one club in the area but sadly nothing too exciting.:( Old town is where most of the interns stay, there is always something going on every week on Thursdays evening with the interns; house parties, pub quiz, pub crawls...

Interns are always organizing outdoor/ indoor activities such as weekend away, go karting, bowling, cinema nights, Trampoline Park etc. There are many different committees that are very active outside of work, again it also depends on how much you enjoy being involved.
