About You
It was an extremely great insight into how the company different from the other Big 4 which was extremely useful. It was also a great way to make friends and meet like minded people who I have maintained a relationship with outside of Discover EY. It was also great to learn about the different service lines if you are unsure
EY make everyone feel as though they were special to be selected and that they really want you to join the firm. The general atmosphere is great and you'll always feel comfortable asking any questions (most people will have the same one). Afterwards, lots of the managers and HR recruiters will continue to make sure that you're getting on ok and you'll be happy to ask them anything
LOTS! You never feel like you don't know what you're doing/where you are going etc. You know prior to the day what you are going to be doing and get guidance on what to wear etc. During the time, there is always opportunities to ask questions but you're normally already told the answer (or just about to be).
I think that I definitely now know where I want to work because of this programme. I am still slightly unsure of my service line but only because I was always extremely unsure, although i think I know A LOT more than I initially did. During day 2, you will work on a fake brief which provides you with an insight into what a job is like in EY. You also get feedback on the day from your facilitator and peer feedback which is really useful.
The Company
Extremely well structured and it almost runs exactly to schedule. You will receive in advance a detailed plan of what the day will look like but you will be reminded of this when you turn up on each day. Everything was really well timed and there was enough time for everything with lots of extremely senior people giving up a large amount of their day to interact with you.
Fantastic, you felt like everyone really loved working there and the atmosphere was always full of excitement and a desire to succeed. I believe everyone was extremely friendly and at night time everyone wanted to hang out and see each other. During the day, you get put into tables which is great because it means that you mingle with lots more people than you normally would.
They invested a lot of senior time into each individual with each person on my table receiving feedback about their most valuable skills from a manager. It was great to see how interested seniors were in giving us all the information they could and then also grads also gave up their time to ensure that we understood the pathway from where we were sitting to now.
This is difficult to do within a two day programme but it was definitely done as well as it could be. Every role varies drastically depending on service line and then sector within that service line etc. It was interesting to see the opportunities within EY for a 6 month seccondment in either something totally different OR moving to a different country to expand on your knowledge.
A LOT! The company culture is all about the people and this is a running theme throughout the programme.
Extremely, if you are at all unsure about this then 100% this programme is for you. You will not only get to see the differences between the services lines but why EY is right for you and are you right for EY. Everyone put an emphasis on how valuable this experience was regardless of continuation within EY and I believe that this is true.
Everything Else
Paid 2 night hotel and travel and all food was provided throughout the trip
You will meet so many people from the firm, we met 3 partners within a few hours which is crazy considering we are not even part of the firm. Everyone is willing and eager to meet undergraduates from any level and grads are happy to share their experience in the firm so far. You will have networking lunches and also a networking dinner and then lots of opportunities to chat throughout the day including during the case study
Very good, well organised and lots of people to chat to always
This is something that wasn't really touched on that much (not the fault of anyone) but none of us really asked. It was definitely answered at some point because I remember people talking about their volunteer days on top of their annual leave but there was no emphasis on this, mainly because we were interested in the role and the firm
100% - you meet friends, learn about the firm and why they are the right firm for you, the values that EY look for and help with the next stages after this (you are fast tracked to the assessment centre for a Summer Internship OR industrial placement) and you also meet so many employees to help you through the process
