About You
An amazing and insightful experience into the work of the Financial Conduct Authority and financial services in general. A must have for anyone considering a career in finance.
All levels of people in the organisation gave us presentations making us feel that they were trying to invest their time and resources in us.
Really broadened my perception of how the financial services are regulated and how this is impacted by law and current affairs.
Having to work together in groups to create presentations with the incentive of being fast-tracked on to the assessment day of their 10 week internship helped us pick up invaluable team work, creative, and organisational skills. Furthermore, shuffling the seating plan around daily and encouraging us to engage with the speakers enhanced our communicative skills. Also, the exercises in which we had to question our strengths, weaknesses, and main influences will be massively important when it comes to interview skills.
The Company
We were given a detailed schedule in our booklets of our day to day activities.
The Elevation Networks and FCA's inspiring and supportive HR teams constantly drove us to supersede our own potential and strive for the best results (be it in the activities on the Spring Week or in the course of our studies). From encountering people on the grad scheme to the FCA's Chairman, all were warm, charismatic and approachable. This Spring Week really taught us all to put everything we do in perspective to secure the brightest future.
A lot, but could have had more shadowing opportunities.
Greatly. We were exposed to all the FCA's divisions and how the grad scheme is a springboard into a full time role.
Everyone was warm and welcoming - we understood very much. It would have been better to have served breakfast snacks.
Extremely valuable. Content transcended finance, giving insight into the legal and business sectors as career paths.
Everything Else
Reimbursed expenses.
Yes, there were multiple occasions we could network with the graduates.
Good, but the speakers left too quickly after their presentations, not allowing us to always network with them. However, many of them did leave emails.
Yes, there was a lot of insight into the charity and fundraising work the FCA do in the community.
Without a doubt. This Spring Week provides a broad perspective over financial services and is a wake up call for anyone who has not been properly considering their future. This Spring Week is a shortcut on to the 10 week internship, which then is a shortcut on to the grad scheme and further employment.
