The Role
I found my time spent at EY both interesting and enjoyable, having worked on a large variety of tasks and having met lots of different people. Every day can be different which is why i quite enjoy the work due to the varied nature of what i do. Overall i would say i enjoy the work more than i thought. I would rate this an 8/10
Everybody at EY was extremely friendly and always happy to help with any problems or queries that we might have. We were also assigned both a buddy and a counsellor, with whom I met to discuss the internship, life at EY and my future career aspirations. Overall the colleagues are friendly and always chat to me and include me in conversations too.
We received three days of training, during which we did lots of fun activities to help us get to know the other people and to improve business skills. We also had an IT day during which we logged on to the system and to the mail and learnt about printers, phones and more. We also received some basic instruction in the use of Microsoft Excel.
Scholarship Intern working in Financial Services Performance Improvements. Worked in Insurance in first week, Retail banking in second and Enterprise Performance Management in third. Wide variety of tasks including formatting, creating and reviewing slides and spreadsheets as well as conducting research and taking part in meetings and conference calls.
I was given some responsibility on a daily basis with the work i was given. i was told to ask for help and to give feedback about the work i was given too. I think the responsibility was fairly decent as i felt like my work was worthwhile but i was not pressured and anxious to complete work. Overall my work was worth something to the company but it was not of high importance.
I have greatly improved a number of skills in both talking and working with different people and in the work that I produce. We received lots of feedback as we went along which helped us to improve during our time there. With these skills I can continue my education and they will help me in the future to pursue a job.
The Company
the general atmosphere was really good in the office and i always felt like part of the team and joined in for group chats and tea breaks with the team too. The office is always a great place to work and i am comfortable with my c o-workers and i know i can ask them for help or to answer any questions i have too.
We received three days of training at the start of our internship, including an IT day during which we learnt all about the software that EY use. We were assigned each a buddy and a mentor, who were there for any questions. We were assigned to a new team each week who always had lots of things to keep us busy.
my education is paid for by the company which is really great for me of course and the company have invested in me this way quite a lot. i can work on my NVQ through working at the company and possibly even onto a degree course if im lucky to have a full-time job and continue working in the company.

it seems really appealing and does genuinely appeal to me too. i hope to eventually get a job at the company and further progress through my education as well. I think because the company has paid for my education so far they are more likely to take me on as a full time employee and hep me progress further through the company too.
The Culture
myself and other apprentices always had a get together every few weeks, we would go out in the local area and also see where in the area was new for us to go too and explore more. Some apprentices came from different cities around britain so they wanted to look round the local towns and areas even more.
the cost of living was fairly standard in the area i worked in however i do not plan to move out of my parents house in the immediate future as i would like to have a full time job first and save some money before i move out. i think there are many flats and houses for workers at EY so it's definitely a good place to find accommodation in.
the nightlife was pretty good. i have been out with few different departments to local pubs and nearby towns for nights out celebrating birthdays and also some holidays within the year too. The employees at work i would usually go out with tended to be a bit older than me and we also wanted to chat more with each other so the local pubs were great for this.
We had lots of social events during the three-week period that I very much enjoyed. I wasn't there long enough to experience some of the items listed. We were also sent emails for any opportunities too and given options on where we wanted to help out or get involved with. We are asked to help the local community and the surrounding quite a lot.
