About You
I found the programme both a valuable and enjoyable experience. I particularly enjoyed spending a week in a busy working atmosphere with other students my age interested about possibly pursuing a career in law. I thought the programme met my full expectations and helped me understand whether I want to enter the law profession.
Not very applicable, but I was recognised and appreciated for each task I completed or assisted on. The tasks I completed was part of the trainee solicitors work so I felt involved and valued throughout the week. I was asked questions and offered some help with my work.
Throughout the week the assisting trainee solicitor was very helpful and supportive. They were happy to answer any questions I had about working in large, cooperate law firm and guided me through complicated or new tasks. In general, I thought that everybody I met was friendly and made sure they checked that I was fine and enjoying my experience.
I learnt the importance of consistency and improved my attention to detail whilst proof reading and preparing “bundles”’. A team of trainee solicitors ran a business exercise where I was challenged to analyse a case, identify issues, form solutions and pitch a persuasive argument to the group. This developed both my presentation skills and confidence of public speaking.
The Company
The programme was structured very well. At the beginning of the week, each work experience placement received a detailed timetable of their week. The programme was very varied, allowing us to get the most out of the work experience programme. Overall very good.
The general atmosphere was really good, i enjoyed where i was working as i learnt a lot about the company and i was given a tour and introduced to a lot of employees within the business too. I think the experience there was well worth me applying and definitely worth doing.
They didn't invest in me too much as i was just on a work experience type of placement however a lot of employees and supervisors took a bit of time out of their work to ask me questions and ensure i was given some work and looked after well too.
it really helped me understand the type of job i could get in pinsent masons definitely. The skills i learnt and the people i met have helped me grow too and would definitely be beneficial if i apply for a full time job there and im lucky enough to get it too, I also understand more about the company as a whole which is positive too.
i understand the company a lot more than i did but my main forcus was on the work that they did and how they work as a business more internally. My experience there was beneficial in this way and i definitely couldn't have picked up the knowledge just by looking online compared to working in the business.
really valuble to me and i enjoyed my work a lot and definitely would reccomend it to anyone who is interested in their sort of business. i am now a bit clear on what i would like to do career-wise loking ahead. I will finish my school first and probably apply for a job at pinsent masons or perhaps after i have completed a degree.
Everything Else
as i was on an experience course i was not paid for any work i completed and being at the place. I was not given a strict schedule, i was just told and advised when to come in and to do similar sort of hours to who i was working for on the next day. I was able to have a few breaks when needed to as well.
This was not applicable as it was only a one week work experience placement. I was told about going to any local cafe's and things and that there are christmas parties and opporuities to meet up with workers outside of work too. I am also texting a few people i met as well which is nice.
As i was not there for long i did not get the opportunity to meet up with employees outside of work. as i understand it though, some weekends are organised and events are put on for employees too to have the chance of having drinks together or go bowling and other things.
not really, i was just informed that a lot of areas within the business organise trips and activitires on weekends sometimes to either go for a few drinks in the local area or perhaps organise something bigger if it was someone's birthday or a christmas party etc.
i would definitely reccomend it as it was really interesting and useful for me. i think it's good for a week as you get to do a bit of work and to better understand if you want that sort of work in the future and if it suits your likes and interests too. I enjoyed working with the employees and would consider going back.
