    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Really well organised from the moment I arrived. Fntastic location, beautiful building and all of the employees I met on arrival were very accomodating. The day was well planned out and we were networking with likeminded individuals from the off. Fun interactive sessions with the trading simulation and good speakers.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • They treated everyone as equal. All of the staff and current grads really worked hard to make sure everyone was accomodated for and all were interested. Each of the staff were very nice and really attepted to sell M&G to us all which was good. They understood our situation (a bit unsure about the industry/career ideas) and were very accommodating. For example, they didn't use all of the finance/investment jargon. I went with a load of questions and in the end didn't need to ask a single one.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Plenty of guidance and support. There were plenty of grads, interns, apprentices and senior members of the firm about at all times answering any questions that we may have had. An external team led the trading simulation which was good as they were able to clearly explain the basics of fund management and from their outsiders perception share the benefits of working at m&g. We also recieved plenty of contact details that we would be able to use if we had any further enquiries.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very helpful. I went not fully knowing what fund management was. We recieved a great oversight of the industry, the firm and also each of the internship programmes. If i were to apply to m&g in september I am now aware that I would be best suited to the corporate programme. I know know what I have to do in my degree and can possibly pick modules that would assist me in securing a placement. This may be anything related to the global economy or real world.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The trading simulation was spread accross the day. This was good as it added a competitive edge and was a really good way of meeting the other students in attendence. We discussed global events and together formuated investment methods, altering our portfolios inbetween speakers. No session lasted too long. Moreover, the speakers were highly engaging and knowledgable.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Good atmosphere. The staff were laid back yet very professional and the senior directors were just as easy to speak to as the grads which was nice. We were able to truely see that the company's values were throuout the organisation. Other students quickly relaxed into it and the firm helped by providing a range of snacks and drinks, alongside a very nice lunch.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Very helpful. I have always been interested in finance/ banking but I had never really experienced asset management. After hearing speaches on the industry from professionals and others it is definitely the career that I wish to pursue. The company culture was fantastic and somewhere that i would most certainly like to work in the future.
