About You
I found it extremely enjoyable as I have done a couple of work experience events and I’ve never had one quite like this one. We had a range of activities put on for us and there was a good number of us there and so you always had someone new to walk to.
I felt extremely valued as the staff and the graduates that they had assigned to talk to us made an effort to find out what we are interested in and also gave us veer useful advice. I felt that they wanted to make a good impression on us and so took their time to speak to us all.
We received a lot of guidance. As mentioned before people were very willing and open to hear about what your desires were. They were also very willing to take your contact details in order to stay in touch and let you know of any opportunities that may fit in with what your aspiring to do.
The information I received on the day I believe will help me with my module selections at university as it will help me narrow down exactly what modules will fit into my ultimate goal. However, it also showed me how important it is to do extra reading around the real estate field to grasp a better understanding of the market.
The Company
Extremely well structured. We were sent a schedule of the day before we arrived and so I knew exactly what to expect. The day went according to the plan and we were able to do a number of different things such as some networking, a sight visit and group presentations therefore maximising our time.
There was a great atmosphere, everyone was extremely friendly and approachable. I managed to speak to a number of different people who also came for the insight day and it was very interesting to hear why they themselves were interested in a career in real estate. Also the JLL staff were very kind and welcoming.
There wasn't any training involved in the day as it was just an insight day.
The insight helped me to understand what a full-time role would be like as I spoke to so many different people that work in JLL and they all help different positions. They informed me of what their typical day would be and there was such a difference between the different job titles.
The insight allowed me to understand a bit of the company’s culture firstly from the design and layout of the office. The office has several break out areas showing that it is quite a sociable firm. Also from speaking to the graduates they told us of the trips they’ve been on as a firm in order for them to get to know each other. We were also told that they take their work very seriously but also put on a couple of social activates.
I’ve always been very unsure on the exact role I want to take on within the real estate sector, however by speaking to some of the graduates and telling the about what I enjoy and where I can see myself in the future, they offered advice on the possible paths I may want to take.
Everything Else
No we were not paid, it was a days event and did not expect to be paid. I believe that the insight and experience we got was for our benefit and so it was not necessary for a payment to be received. However if it were a week’s placement I think it would be crucial to perhaps provide a reimbursement expense for travel.
Yes there were so many opportunities to network. We stated the day with a networking breakfast which lasted almost an hour. We also had a networking lunch and shadowed graduates giving another opportunity to talk to people within the firm. Also when doing our group presentations we were lead by a graduate.
They were really informative and lengthy. There were enough staff to talk to who were extremely welcoming
Yes there are sports teams and with your department they normally organise events perhaps on the weekend
Yes i would as the firm gives you an opportunity to see different aspects involved in working there or in any real estate company.
