About You
The insight programme was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
The atmosphere throughout the week was exceptional. From the first day, a great effort was made to ensure a good integration of the group and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The impression left was one of a firm and a team that genuinely wanted to teach and help us.
The structure was helpful for this. The week began with introductory sessions to the different areas of Global Advisory and investment banking in general. We then had the chance later in the week to meet analysts and associates and deliver a case study, which felt the right way round.
With regards to my degree, it helped insofar as it augmented my understanding of companies. Predominantly though, it helped me gain an insight into an industry that would be difficult to achieve otherwise - through it being a practical as well as informative insight.
The Company
I found the structure helped me get the most out of the week. By having the informative sessions early on, I felt better equipped to ask relevant questions to the analysts and associates and to deliver an interesting and engaging presentation. I also enjoyed the morning volunteering at Body and Soul - it was a great way to integrate the team further.
Great. All the staff were genuinely engaged and actively wanted to help us as much as possible. Additionally, there was an atmosphere of teamwork generated that made it all very enjoyable.
Sessions were based around development as well as insight - for example the video on personal presentation.
Of course, the level of responsibility could never be represented (!) but in terms of content, the case study gave a very good indication of what to expect.
Hugely - the networking sessions helped enormously in understanding the friendly atmosphere at Rothschild whilst the introductory session focussed on its history placed the firm in perspective.
This certainly helped me to confirm this as my desired career path.
Everything Else
There were numerous opportunities to connect, not only with analysts but right up to Directors and MDs at lunches or teas.
The networking opportunities were brilliant in that the members of staff were ready and willing to give useful insights into the company which meant you could get a lot out of them
Yes we were given a tour of the company's gym on the first day. Additionally through networking opportunities.
Absolutely.
