The Role
I really enjoyed my placement and I am glad I chose an area in which I would be challenged. I am glad I had the experience in the field I have been working within for the past year, however it has highlighted areas of work I enjoy and other areas in which I don't particularly enjoy. I also enjoyed the responsibility I was given. Given the opportunity to work here again I would challenge myself in a different division within the business.
Despite being an intern I was a highly valued member of my team and I was given meaningful tasks and responsibilities. My tasks spanned and impacted several markets across Europe, Middle East and Africa and I even got to visit some of the countries within that remit.
I was given exceptional support from my manager when needed and was also allowed the freedom to be proactive and make my own decisions. I simply cannot fault my manager and the support they have given me.
The nature of the markets I worked within meant that on some days I was inundated with work and other days would involve clearing my inbox. However, the fast paced environment in which I worked forced me to take advantage of quiet days to prepare for the inevitably busy days ahead.
A good level of responsibility and I was relied upon to do important tasks to ensure the success of the vast amount of ongoing projects daily.
My IT skills have increased immensely and it has given me an idea of the real-world workplace and what to expect. Managing time and priorities has been key for me and is something I will take forward into my degree.
The Company
A general buzz around the office and a pleasant place to be.
The fast-paced unpredictable nature meant planning tasks for me was difficult initially, but I soon got to grips with what was expected. I felt there could have been more intern training delivered.
A lot of virtual training is offered but I think it lacks in personal training. I had to rely on my manager for a lot of my personal training (which they would gratefully provide for) but I felt this should have been coming from the business.

There is a Management Training Scheme available within 4 sectors, offering multiple roles within each sector.
The Culture
Yes - there is an intern committee dedicated to ensuring everyone mingles and has a good time throughout the placement.
I commuted in for about 2hrs each way everyday and so proved very costly!
