The Role
Thoroughly enjoyable experience - worked in a great team doing very important technical work serving customers in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Very valued - the work completed on this placement certainly added value to the business. There are many forms of communication where you receive constructive feedback from management and colleagues alike.
Excellent training provided during the first two weeks. After that you are working with customers straight away. Learning on the job with senior management supporting you along the way has definitely been of great benefit.
Very busy - you always have something significant to do and it is all relevant technical work. However, you are also given the opportunity to engage with other projects and learn about the wider business.
Huge responsibility - you are working with customers every single day delivering a high quality service.
Technical skills gained will definitely assist with my degree studies. Competency skills gained like teamwork, communication and adaptability will help in my future career.
The Company
Fantastic - very good team both in the UK and the rest of Europe when communicating remotely.
This team has employed placement students for many years so they have an excellent strategy in place for you to make the most of the year.
You get to sit IBM certification exams which are paid for. You also receive 2 weeks training with full support given throughout the year.
Financial Bonus
Very appealing - many options to apply for and there is an internal 'Placement Student to Graduate' scheme to assist.
The Culture
Good social scene among fellow students in the local areas.
Affordable for South West London with good travel links.
Positive.
There is an internal blog for each IBM location where you work in teams to produce monthly content. This gives an incentive to arrange activities so the experiences can be shared in the blog at the end of each month.
