The Role
Received a lot of responsibility from the off set and always opportunity to develop
Small teams mean that you know your colleagues very well and you are a large part of the team.
Regular 1-to-1s with my line manager and close relationships with my team members
Fluctuations- August - March is the busiest time for this role, calms down after that
Autonomy when recruiting the next round of interns, not micromanaged
Received training about both the job role and for interpersonal skills, psychometric testing etc
The Company
Professional environment but everyone is friendly and facilities are great.
Regular contact before starting, well structured throughout
Product training when you start, 2 week handover period, role specific training, interpersonal skills training, presentation training.. the list goes on!
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Since it is such a small organisation, and there is no graduate scheme, the only opportunity to return is via somebody leaving/retiring or a new role opening up. Therefore, for some departments there is not much chance of future employment. However, other departments such as Finance have a lot of ex interns, and the Head of marketing used to be an intern!
The Culture
The social scene is what you make it- each intern year will be different, depending on the personalities in the year. Our year was social, and we went out in Reading quite a lot.
Rent ranges from around £400-£650 a month, dependent on quality of house and living area. Socialising is standard price, nothing too pricey!
The best club in reading is the Student Union, which you can only attend with a uni student. However, Reading is great for bars!
Yes- the interns made their own netball team and some played badminton. You can also volunteer at work events, and the interns plan events such as pub quiz
