The Role
once I got the hang of my every day tasks I found these quite repetitive, however I was given responsibility for a lot of large scale projects over the year which I really enjoyed taking part in
I found that my entire team valued my input. Especially as I was one of only two native English speakers in a team of around 15
I changed managers half way through the year due to structural changes and whilst my first manager was great, my second manager gave me an incredible amount of support and guidance
Depended massively on the season (e.g. Summer is much quieter in term of comms, year end is really busy) and what projects I was working on at the time
Was given real responsibility from day one - worked on lots of large scale projects that were published to the whole organization
Whilst my placement wasn't directly related to my degree I think the general writing skills, time management and communication skills will be useful within my degree and definitely further on in life
The Company
Lots of young people, very relaxed but always willing to help, offices are amazing and have a really nice friendly feel to them Also lots of food!
My managed for second half of year was much more structured and this was great
I was able to access numerous trainings and development opportunities - including first aid training, volunteering days etc
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I would definitely come back to the organisation and have seen and spoken to some people who have had amazing experiences at UBS - internal mobility here is great so if I was to come back I would know that I would be able to move between different roles with ease
The Culture
Nights out every Thursday (arranged by interns themselves) and I made some friends for life!
London is very expensive but it was a great experience to live here and socialise here - there are some unique and wonderful places that are often worth the price tags!
Loads of fun but expensive!
Loads - lots of different sports teams, gym downstairs with loads of classes, lots of volunteering opportunities and events such as pride
