The Role
I have enjoyed my placement at IBM as an RFS manager. I found the workload difficult to pick up originally but took the challenges associated on with both hands. I felt appreciated as part of the team and the work I was doing mattered, which was also quite motivational. Throughout the year the workload goes through peaks and troughs so it provides good scope to develop your own skills outside of the role as well which is good.
My role made me feel very valued and the work I was doing mattered, this was very motivational.
My manager and surrounding team have been fantastic and I have tried to use their advice as much as possible in order to be as efficient as possible in my job.
The workload varies depending on the time of the year, end of quarter is a very busy period so be prepared to work longer hours around these dates. However the normal day to day is manageable with good time keeping and organisation.
Lots of responsibility was put on my shoulders, you have to be able to cope under time and quality pressures.
It has provided me with a great platform to launch my future career and university studies in a positive direction.
The Company
Can be quiet due to people being on customer site. however when everyone is in its a buzzing atmosphere.
Foundation are very good at organising even with cost restraints happening at the moment.
Provided lots of materials to develop your skills in lots or areas!
Subsidised/Company Gym
Working from home
The graduate scheme looks very appealing and i will be applying back
The Culture
The social scene can be quite quiet due to the small amounts of interns at my base location.
I lived at home, however other interns say its very cheap.
Can be lively depending where you go.
