The Role
My team was very accommodating and gave more responsibility as they saw appropriate. Definitely not treated in the typical "intern" way.
Very highly.
Everything I asked for regarding support, I received. One has to exercise self regulation in this aspect and ask if you have really investigated all avenues before asking for support from management
Most days were 8-6, with a lot to do during each day. Days hardly ever dragged on.
When you are being asked for your advice on the launch of a new fund...
Massively. Social office skills are crucial anywhere.
The Company
Depends massively on your team, but my team had good chat. You get
The HR team were slightly non responsive the majority of the time. However, when contact was finally made they were helpful. Additionally, I had my mid year review 9 months into the placement, which was rather disappointing as I was given good advice which would have certainly been useful prior to the meeting.
IMC training,
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
There was no feeder program when I signed up, however this has changed and we are now being offered a position on a graduate program.
The Culture
Every Thursday there would be student drinks which we would all organize. Gave us all a really good chance to get to know each other and start networking through each other. I learnt about lots of different business areas through these events, and have made connections which I hope will give me a chance to network in future.
London - 5 pound + pints are a standard.
City of London nightlife is expensive but a good experience.
