The Role
I enjoy the people that I work with and I find that the job I do can be very rewarding.
I do feel valued by my colleagues, they always make an effort to say hello and ask how my day is going. I also feel that the work I do is valued within the team.
My manager is always there to answer any of my questions and is always ready to give me help.
It can really depend. In the beginning of the placement I had a medium amount of work, however recently we have had a lot of studies come to close so the workload has shot up. It is still a manageable amount.
I have been given quite a lot of responsibility in archiving studies and creating FSP accounts. I am in quite confident in the fact that the work that I do has an impact on the company and I find that rewarding.
Degree-wise, the only way that I feel the placement has helped me is by increasing my work ethic and my logic skills (from writing SAS, which I can then transfer to help me with coding in my final year). However, I believe that I have developed many life skills, such as I feel more confident in speaking my ideas and I have bettered my interpersonal skills.
The Company
The general atmosphere is pretty upbeat, everyone is always chatting and ready to help you if needs be.
The placement has been pretty well set up, I don't have any issues there.
I believe that GSK takes a massive interest in me, my manager and members of my team always try their best to help me out.

I feel like the future employment opportunities, for me, aren't great. GSK does a future leader program but there is nothing in the statistics and programming sector, nor do they hire graduates in programming.
The Culture
Yes! The students in my building are pretty close and we all hang out together regularly and we also have recently had a programming night out in central London. It is really nice to still have a social life when working full time.
The cost of living is pretty high as Uxbridge is a student town and so I find that the cost of renting is pretty high. Also the cost of socialising is pretty high because whenever we go out, we go to central London.
The nightlife is around, but I think that that is only because I go to university in Uxbridge and so I can go onto campus and go clubbing with my society friends.
Yes, but only because I go to university in Uxbridge and so I can go onto campus and go and do sports with my societies.
