About You
A lot of interns do like to post negative reviews but what do you expect to be doing on an internship? Having said that the long hours and erratic work schedule is to be expected in a fashion company but this internship was my least enjoyable.
I did not feel valued and that is how a lot of interns felt and the full time staff.
If you're good at something that you will be well used and taught certain things.
Apart from knowing how to cut fabric more effectively.
The Company
Terrible. Everyone there was working so hard but the people in charge kept changing their minds.
It was ok. Dead at times with nothing to do then scary at other times when one person would shout at everyone and go insane, one time we were taken outside so not to see it happening. The full time staff are very nice and I wish we got to work more with them.
Zero investment.
The full time staff were all very nice and hard working but I don't think they were happy either so I would not want a full time role there, they would get shouted at and made to stay very late for very little work.
It was clear quite quickly how the company 'worked' or rather did not work. It was very confusing working there and having to repeat the same tasks over and over again. Everyone seemed disposable at the company with only a few being favored.
Never to work there again!
Everything Else
Unfortunately it is normal in the fashion industry not to pay interns and this was the case here too.
The full time staff were very friendly and helpful and seemed like they wanted to help us or to give us something to do. Talking to them was nice when we could but most of the interns stuck together.
The area is close to a lot of bars in Shoreditch where the rest of the interns would go, the staff were friendly at events too and always chatting to us. When I was there it was someone's birthday and someone was leaving the company, both times the entire company came together to wish them well and bought them cake which was nice, not management though.
Nobody did anything but hang around or work til very late.
I never want to go back, I learnt very little and the full time staff looked miserable and none of the other interns seemed to enjoy their experience either.
