The Role
Being given the opportunity to work in a challenging environment such as Aviation not only develops your personal development but makes the experience thoroughly enjoyable.
My immediate colleagues and the wider engineering community made me feel extremely valued. This shows in the level of responsibility awarded throughout my internship.
The level of support I have received from my mentor is no less than commendable. Monthly reviewers were held throughout my internship with both my manager and mentor.
The level of flexibility awarded throughout my internship has allowed myself to manage multiple projects at my own pace. My workload hit a peak during the mid-section of my internship which was both challenging and rewarding.
The level of responsibility I have been awarded throughout my internship is one of the key areas I am most proud of. The management here put trust in all interns to be the face of many projects to the global engineering team.
The ability to work as a team and communicate technical information to professionals will be a key area of development that I will use to my advantage when returning to university.
The Company
The general atmosphere within the office is warm, welcoming and professional. The office space is open and interactive.
It was clear the management have put a lot of effort into the set up of this internship to allow for a smooth process. Devices ready upon arrival include laptop, phone, computer monitor, desk and chair.
The company put a large range of interns through Green Belt training and mentored interns through the certification process. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is recognised world wide and looks great on your CV.

The majority of interns have secured a full-time position within GE prior to finishing their internship.
The Culture
Social events have been regularly organised including weekly drink/meal and Christmas events.
Living cost is relatively low compared to other areas I have previously lived.
Nightlife near my place of work is great fun but pubs/bars/clubs close relatively early.
Opportunities to get involved in activities are always encouraged including charity and STEM events - both of which extremely rewarding and appreciated by all parties involved.
