The Role
I really enjoyed my year at VWFS UK, it's absolutely flown by and I was given much more responsibility that I expected during a placement year.
I was in a very tight knit team and was treated like a permanent employee rather than a placement student. It really did feel like a family.
My manager was really invested in my progress and would assist me in seeking out new opportunities, but would also be there if I had any troubles and would always provide support.
I had critical daily processes that had to be completed every day, beyond those tasks it was up to me to decide how busy I was by however many projects I took on.
My job was critical to daily business. As an undergraduate this was a lot more responsibility than I expected. I relished the opportunity.
I am going back to university having completed a variety of both internal and external courses, as well as confidence in my own ability to perform and succeed.
The Company
We worked hard but also had a good laugh whilst doing it. We shared the problems and the successes together.
Very well organised.
I was enrolled in many internal courses, I was also encouraged to learn more about the business and experience other departments.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
With no graduate scheme set up, there has been no discussion of future employment at VWFS UK unless I came back to a permanent role, of which there are currently no vacancies.
The Culture
There were 18 of us, lots of opportunities to socialise.
Housing was cheaper than university, socialising and going out was around the same price as university.
Plenty of bars
Lots of CSR and sports opportunities
