The Role
I greatly enjoyed my placement at IBM. The environment was very fast paced and busy but in an enjoyable way and not daunting.
I felt very valued by my colleagues and that the work I was doing made a genuine difference to the workplace. I felt like more than "just an intern".
The support was great when I first started and naturally decreased by the end of my placement year. By the end I have been supporting new starters instead of being supported myself. There are different levels of support, those within your role and for your personal development, both of which have different managers.
Very busy generally - but good busy and the days went quickly. Not too busy however that I had to stay late very often or come in early. There were some quiet periods but always other things you could pick up on.
The responsibility increased as my time at IBM did, however this is something I wanted. I began working independently around 2 months in, and only asked for help when required.
The skills in the workplace were invaluable and are that which I can apply to any role I do in the future.
The Company
Great atmosphere and team, everyone is very approachable and always happy to help one another.
My task manager had the wrong start date for me so that wasn't ideal as there wasn't too much work to begin with, however they quickly tried to find me interim things to do.
We had monthly meetings with other interns in the area, but no training was really offered it was more of an online task if you wanted to.

Working from home
The IBM Grad scheme is very appealing and rewarding, however I have other aspirations and have therefore not applied.
The Culture
We had team meals once every few months and quarterly parties on the account. There were other socialising opportunities however as I commute I did not participate too much.
Affordable.
N/A
There were a lot of opportunities to get involved in other things it is just what interests you. Everyone is happy to start up new things if they don't already exist.
