The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement and had some great experiences. I have had many opportunists to learn lots of new skills by attending regularly held works shops etc I have also been lucky enough to be selected to go to Wimbledon via IBM which awesome.
I feel very valued as I basically do the same role as all of my colleagues intern or otherwise.
I was given as much support as needed, both work related and non related. Work related wise, we have a team lead whose primary role is to support the interns with their client's. My Early professionals manager fights my corner whenever there is a great opportunity and is like a second mother.
I am quite busy on a daily basis, however i am never bored because of it, although the lunch hour is very much appreciated.
Within the first month I was talking to clients. We are entrusted with a lot of responsibility as essentially I do the same role as my colleagues intern or otherwise.
I have developed my technical skills masively, picking up skills such as SQL, troubleshooting/problem solving, reading logs/code etc
The Company
There is a professional but laid back attitude.
It was very well organized with an induction at the start to explain what you will be doing over the course of the year.
The company invests in you heavily allowing you to gain as many qualifications as you want. Each one usually costs $200 and I got mine for free.
Subsidised Canteen
Working from home
There is a variety of roles so there is something for everyone, and interns get to apply before the general public. I plan to re apply as a graduate.
The Culture
Yes, there were roughly 300 interns so there was always something going on.
£500 a month- rent £30-50 a month- bills £4 for a pint
Not great but a 40min train journey will put you in central London
There are a few, I personally joined a rugby club which also provided me with a gym.
