The Role
The placement was a good opportunity to work whilst learning and could lead to opportunities in the future.
Supported in both the work during the placement and help with progression for after the placement.
Daily workload varied throughout the weeks and months depending on the work which was available. The first few months were mostly learning with the workload building after that.
The Company
Being the only placement at the station it seemed that it was very dependent on the work/opportunities your line manager could get you. Very little contact with the early careers team.
Training opportunities were open to me as they were to any other member of the department.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The placement leads to the option for fast tracking onto the graduate scheme and sponsorship during your final years at university. There is also the benefit of extra knowledge than if you were applying blindly.
The Culture
There appeared to be more placement students at other stations/central organisation. There was an opportunity for a placement student team building day early on which showed a good social scene.
